You can never put a damn good man down? Well, at least in SWS survey.
Philippine President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III once again soared high in popularity according to the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey first published in Businessworld.
According to the survey conducted between June 28-30 this year, 76 percent were satisfied, 12 percent only were dissatisfied for a ‘very good’ satisfaction rating of +64, up by 5 points from his previous +59 last March 2013 (74% satisfied, 15% dissatisfied) but 3 points below his personal best of +67 in August 2012.
The survey also showed that 40% say the president will be successful , 13 % say he will be unsuccessful while 47% say it is too early to tell for a record-high net expectation rating of +27%, 3 points up from previous +24%.
The president was most popular in Visayas with an ‘excellent’ satisfaction rating rising sharply from +43 points (March 2013) to +74 points survey time, up by a commendable 28 points.
In Metro Manila, he remained ‘good’ rising by 6 points from +40 to +46 (67% satisfied, 21% dissatisfied)
He scored ‘very good’ both in Mindanao (+58, down by 9 points from previous +67) and Balance of Luzon (+67, up by 13 points from previous +54)
The President was also very popular in both rural and urban areas, scoring ‘excellent’ and ‘very good’ respectively. In rural his satisfaction rating was up by 3 points, from net +67 (78% satisfied, 11% dissatisfied) in March 2013 to +70 (79% satisfied , 10% dissatisfied)
He likewise scored well among men and women. The net satisfaction rating among men stayed ‘very good’ +64 ( 77% satisfied, 12 dissatisfied), up by 6 points from +58 (74%satisfied, 15% dissatisfied). Among women, he was up by 3 points from +60 (75% satisfied, 14% dissatisfied) to +63 (75% satisfied, 12% dissatisfied).
He also stayed ‘very good’ in class ABC with +75 (86% satisfied, 11% dissatisfied), class D with +62 (75% satisfied, 13% dissatisfied) and class E with +68 (78% satisfied, 10% dissatisfied). All classes have posted relative increase in satisfaction rating for the President.
There were 1,200 respondents in the poll from across the nation. The survey question on public satisfaction with the President is:
“Please tell me how satisfied or dissatisfied you are in the performance of Benigno Aquino III as President of the Philippines. Are you satisfied, somewhat satisfied, undecided if satisfied or dissatisfied, somewhat dissatisfied, very dissatisfied or you have never heard or read anything about Benigno Aquino III?”
It is important to note however, that the survey was conducted before the pork barrel controversy hit the headlines and the Zamboanga crisis exploded.
With several things that happened between the survey period and now, the mounting public anger over the corruption scandal and the unresolved conflict in Zamboanga, the next SWS survey just becomes more interesting for it may yet register another record-highs for the president but which cannot make him smile anymore.
