I find divorces repulsive,” she said. “I will never get divorced, never.”
This was Catherine Zeta-Jones’ line ten years ago. She was then asked how sure she is with her statement but simply replied “I grew up in a small, strictly-Catholic fishing village on the coast of Wales. The people there have a different attitude to life than those in Hollywood – people stick together more, “ she continued.
She was 34 then.
Now at 43, she is struggling to get out of the dark after she announced the alleged split up with Michael Douglas, 68, and her husband for thirteen years.
Douglas who is away and currently promoting the Liberace movie, “Behind the Candelabra” in Europe, was barraged with calls for him to come home.
This has put a lot of strain on Catherine who is now heavily smoking with two packs of cigarette daily and was advised to have an intense therapy according to sources.
She’s not been eating well too; that her mom, Pat, moved in with her at their home in New York to take care of the children and cook for her.
Prior to the said split up declaration on August 28 , the two has really been leading to a separate life but none of them could just let go of their marriage.
A week after the separation, the lonesome Welsh beauty was seen still wearing her wedding ring while on her way to church in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Likewise, her husband Douglas was spotted with his wedding band still on.
“They are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.” as friends confirmed it.
It was admitted that the couple’s marriage was never a picnic, after Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer last 2011 and Zeta-Jones, voluntarily sought help in a clinic for her bipolar disorder treatment.
Neither of them walked to file for divorce at present, nor applied for legal separation. The couple’s friends said that they are simply taking a break away from each other.
The couple’s two children, namely Dylan, 13 and Carys, 10, might not like the separation but friends close to the Douglas and Zeta-Jones still hope they could make out their differences.
Both believed that whatever happens, that the best interest of their kids should always be considered.
Zeta-Jones hopes that she can have a heart-to-heart talk with Douglas when he returns to New York.
He is still the love of her life, she said.
