Another feather to the cap which is so timely for the Philippines and so momentous because it’s the country’s first Miss World title.
Megan’s got the brains; she’s got the body. A lovely smile and a certain radiance about her is what made her a standout among the 126 candidates. Add to those pluses a good heart and she’s definitely a woman most people would define as almost perfect.
She won in the Top Model challenge; was so stunning in the beach fashion pre-pageant that she made it to the 11 finalists. It seemed inevitable that Megan Young was among the top 10 semifinalists. Despite controversies to push her out of the line, she emerged as the winner because a woman of substance is not easy to put down.
Her admirable answer in the Q and A portion speaks well of the person within.
Why should you be Miss World?
The famous question that paved the way to the crown Miss Philippines proudly answered,
“I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other. … as one, we can help society.”
Meanwhile on a video profile played having the same query, her answer was “My main reason for being here today is to represent my country. To show that Filipinos are hardworking and show that no matter what, we’re willing to help other people. I’m sure the Filipinos are behind me.”
Young, who looked so astounding in a floor-length mermaid style skin-colour gown, accepted the Miss World crown from 2012 winner Wenxia Yu after being proclaimed the winner of this year’s competition.
The 23-year-old Filipina beauty is currently studying digital film-making. She worked on several films and on televisions and wants to become a director in the future.
She acknowledged the judges for selecting her and vowed to “be the best Miss World ever”. Young promised to “just be myself in everything I do, to share what I know and to educate people”.
Megan Young truly deserves to be Miss World. Congratulations!
