Pre-orders for the iPhone 5C Begins in the U.S.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 5C begin early Sept. 13 via several major U.S. carriers. Walmart is also offering a better a discount on the new Apple offering.

It was announced by Sprint on its website that pre-orders for the iPhone 5C starts at 2 a.m. Central, or 3 a.m. Eastern, and midnight Pacific, while Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile have also announced that they will begin pre-orders for the 5C on Sept. 13, presumably at the same time. The 16GB version of the iPhone 5C will be $99, while the 32GB will be sold at $199, both prices offer under a two-year agreement. Unlocked versions through T-Mobile will be sold at $549 and $649, respectively.

The step-up iPhone 5S will not be available for pre-order. Customers who want one will instead have to wait until Sept. 20 so they can order the new phone or get in line at Apple and other carrier stores around the United States.

The new phones will also be offered by big box retailers like Walmart. It announced that it will sell the 16GB iPhone 5C (in all five colors), for $79 if you sign a two-year contract, basically a $20 discount. Walmart will accept in-store pre-orders beginning Sept. 13 at the the store’s customer service desk. Customer who pre-order can then pick it up on Sept. 20 or wait until Sept. 21 if they want to trade in an old smartphone for a bigger discount via Walmart’s new program. Pre-orders however, must be picked up by Sept. 25, according to Walmart. Meanwhile, the 16GB iPhone 5S will also be available in Walmart stores on Sept. 20, along with a $10 discount for the 16GB at $189.

Since Apple is now replacing the iPhone 5 with the 5C, Walmart is beginning to sell its inventory of iPhone 5 phones at $79, reduced from $98, along with a two-year contract. The iPhone 4S, is now $0.97, and the iPhone 4 will be $0.10 and will include a $100 Walmart gift card, beginning Sept. 16.

Starting Sept 13 meanwhile, those who buys an unlocked, pre-paid iPhone via Walmart’s Straight Talk can get the iPhone 5 for $549, while the iPhone 4 for $349, a hefty $100 discount on both.
