Versatile film and television actor Julio Diaz or Mariano de Leon Regaliza in real life has been discharged and doing well after undergoing cerebral angiogram and coiling last April.
He said he is grateful for his second life considering that his family was told he had only 48 hours left to live when he was rushed to the hospital on April 8 after passing out due to a severe headache.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying in an interview with “Rated K” on Sunday, May 23: “Unang una sa Panginoong Diyos, maraming salamat sa Kanya kasi nga itong buhay na ito ay hiram lang at binigyan Niya ulit ako ng panibagong buhay.
[First of all, I would like to thank the Lord because He gave me another life.]
[Nowadays, I tell myself that it’s really nice to live if you’re fighting. The Lord gave you life because He loves you so you must love Him just like the way He loves the life He gave you.]
Diaz’s sister, Ana Marie Datuin created a GoFundMe page to raise money for the actor’s surgery after a CAT scan showed a swelling of a vein.
She wrote if the surgery is not performed within 24-48 hours, an aneurysm is imminent which may lead to fatal damages.
Part of her post read: “Julio has a very small window of opportunity to get the surgery done to save his life. This surgery however needs a huge amount of money that Julio does not have right now. This is the reason why, I am stepping in on his behalf appealing to anyone who is being led by the Lord to give any amount they can to raise the money needed to get the surgery performed within the next few hours.
Your kind generosity will be very much appreciated. May the Good Lord from His richness in heaven bless you abundantly for your kind and generous help for this cause. Thank you.”
Despite what happened, Diaz said he remains thankful because his health condition paved the way for him to reconnect with his daughter with his former wife.
He is currently staying in Baguio City as he was advised by his doctors that his recovery would be faster if he stays in cooler places.
