CAGAYAN DE ORO City – On April 29, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV furnished GMA News a list of 41 properties allegedly owned by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and his family. This is part of his exposé against the presidential frontrunner whom he claims to have ‘hidden wealth’ contrary to his ‘poor man’ image.
And while Inday Sara and incumbent Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte – the tough-talking mayor’s daughter and son – defended the property charges through separate statements, another property owner by the name of Gian Paolo P. Duterte surfaced to refute the allegations that the property in Cagayan de Oro City which was part of the list provided by Sen. Trillanes is owned by Mayor Duterte.
In a Facebook post which Dr. Gian Duterte shared on his account, he issued the following statement:
“It is unfortunate that my name been publicly mentioned in the GMA7 news report last April 29, 2016, of which Senator Antonio Trillanes accused Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and his family of possessing illegally amassed properties.
“For the record, I am a practicing Pediatric Dentist for seven (7) years and I have established regular clients through private practice based in Cagayan de Oro City. Through my profession, I was able to secure a loan from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) to purchase the real estate property in Cagayan de Oro City, mentioned in the reports of GMA 7 and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
“I’ve been doing private practice as a Dental Medicine professional and have never been a politician; I never sought any elected position in the past nor ran for public office. Furthermore, our roots come from Cebu and I’ve yet to establish the degree or any connection whatsoever on how the good mayor, Rodrigo R. Duterte, and I are directly related.”
Now that’s minus one from the list of Trillanes.
