MIXQUIAHUALA, Mexico – Can you stop a baby from coming out? Well, this woman in a video was forced to give birth at the main entrance of a hospital a few minutes after she arrived — because she was allegedly ignored by hospital staff.
John Shammas’ article for The Mirror published on May 4 said that the unidentified woman was unable to stop her baby from coming out right there and then in Mixquiahuala, Mexico
The woman claimed that she arrived at the hospital and informed the staff she is delivering real soon. However, the staff allegedly ignored her.
After waiting for 20 minutes, the woman realized she would have to lie down and give birth without the assistance of medical professionals.
Nurses then rushed towards her as her baby started crying. It was only then that she was admitted to the hospital.
Reports said that luckily, both the mother and her newborn kid are in stable condition.
Apparently, this is not the first time a hospital in Mexico was criticized for this kind of incident as the same scenario also happened back in 2013.
An article by Mail Online published on October 10, 2013, shared an image of a woman giving birth on the lawn in front of a medical facility in Mexico.
The image, which also went viral at that time, showed a mother, Irma Lopez, giving birth outside the hospital because she was denied health care.
Reports said the 29-year-old indigenous woman was turned away by a nurse while in labor; saying she is “not ready to deliver” because she was only eight months into her pregnancy.
The image gained attention, both national and international; with many condemning the negligence of healthcare professionals in the hospital.
