Despite earlier information that the presidential sisters can’t attend the inauguration of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo on June 30, actress and TV host Kris Aquino confirmed her attendance in the occasion to represent the Aquino family.
The information came from the camp of Robredo after they earlier stated that the Aquino sisters had been invited but they had to skip Robredo’s inauguration to prioritize the turnover rites President Benigno Aquino III will attend on the same day.
As quoted in an article published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer on June 28, the statement from Robredo’s spokesperson Georgina Hernandez reads: “[The] Aquino sisters were invited and Kris Aquino [will] represent the family.”
In addition to this, Kris herself also confirmed her attendance and said that she will wear a simple Filipiniana which best suits the event.
During the recent elections, Kris and the rest of the Aquino sisters, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abelleda and Viel Aquino-Dee, supported and campaigned for Robredo.
Kris was also Robredo’s top contributor who donated a whopping P31.8 million to the former Camarines Sur lawmaker as her campaign fund for vice presidency.
The “short and simple” inauguration of the incoming Vice President will be held at the Quezon City Reception House, the new office of the Vice President, in New Manila from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A thanksgiving party will also be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.
As earlier announced, Robredo’s camp has invited her running mate, defeated presidential candidate Mar Roxas and his family to attend the ceremony. The latter, however, has yet to confirm his attendance.
