DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A dog is being lauded by the online community for its loyalty after the animal was photographed right outside the door of the emergency room of the Davao Doctors Hospital; barking while her owner was rushed there after a heart attack.

Kenneth Mheil Mangaya-Ay mentioned in his article for ABS-CBN News that Arvin Ceria posted photos of a dog together with a man peering at the window of the emergency room after the owner was rushed to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, June 18.

Ceria, who now works as a nurse reliever at Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC), posted the photos on his Facebook with the caption: “Kahapon to nangyari (6/18/16) mga 5 p.m. sa Davao Doc ER. Inatake sa puso ang amo niya na matandang lalaki from Maa. Sabi ng watcher: ‘Nisabay man ning iro sa taxi pagdala namu diri (ER) sa tigulang. Ganina pa gusto musolod ning iroa, sigeg tahol’. Sad to say, the patient died. Namatay man ang iyang amo pero wala jud namatay iyang gugma para kaniya. #dogisthemansbestfriend #tilldeathdousapart”

[“This happened yesterday (June 18) around 5 p.m. at the ER of Davao Doctors Hospital. The dog’s owner from (Barangay) Ma-a suffered a heart attack. The watcher said the dog accompanied them in the taxi when he brought the man here. The dog wanted to enter the ER and has been barking since they arrived. Sad to say, the patient died. The owner may be dead now but the dog’s love for him didn’t die with him.”]

An article by Rhealyn C. Pojas for Sun Star revealed that the dog’s name is Saicy and that the deceased owner was one Elenito Bandayanon.

Ceria narrated that he was transporting a patient which needs to undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at the Davao Doctors Hospital from MDMRC when he saw the dog outside the ER.

“A doctor of the hospital whom I know told me that they allowed the dog to enter after the owner died. The dog touched her owner and howled,” Ceria said.

Meanwhile, Bandayanon’s stepson communicated with Ceria and said that Saicy had been with them for four years.

Bandayanon’s stepson also revealed that their family had established so many memories with the dog; saying that Saicy is as sad as any member of the family over the death of his father.

“Saicy will be alright. We will be alright,” Bandayanon’s son told Ceria.

“Intawun, mingaw kaayo siya diri. Nagahigda lang sa pwesto sa akong step father (She is sad now. She is lying under my stepfather’s coffin),” he added.

Bandayanon’s stepson extended his gratitude to Ceria for posting the photo of their “very loyal dog.”
