MANILA, Philippines – Mariel Rodriguez, who is in the second trimester of her pregnancy, rushed herself to the hospital because she feared something might be wrong with her baby when she felt abdominal pain.
On a Facebook post, the “It’s Showtime” host revealed that she thought the pain was caused by gas, UTI or contractions. However, it turned out that it was caused by her baby’s movements.
Part of her post read: “My baby moves a lot!!! I rushed myself at the hospital thinking something was wrong because it was a feeling I have not felt before. I thought it could be gas, UTI or worse contractions but turns out my baby is just really playful. it was the baby’s movements I was feeling!!!! I was so paranoid maybe because people kept saying don’t travel bla bla, don’t eat this don’t drink that, too much negativity, truth is I won’t do anything that would harm my baby and I’m not going to let comments affect me anymore. I am sensitive, hormonal and paranoid as it is what I need from people…their prayers not unsolicited advice.”
The 31-year-old wife of actor Robin Padilla hinted that she might be taking a break from “It’s Showtime” since she needed to rest.
She wrote: “I was so relieved to hear my baby’s heartbeat again. so far my baby is doing good but i just have to rest this out. thank you to my showtime family for being so understanding and supportive. When I heard my baby’s heartbeat again all the “pain” was gone. It’s all in my head (oops). Will relax now and enjoy my pregnancy and pray for a healthy baby!!!”
She assured everyone that there’s no need to worry because her baby is strong just like her husband.
This is Rodriguez’s third pregnancy.
She suffered two miscarriages last year.
Her first miscarriage was in March last year when she was eight weeks and three days pregnant. She suffered another miscarriage in August wherein she lost her triplet.
