- NBP officials denied any knowledge of the drug lords’ meetings inside the prison facility
- Twenty drug lords reportedly raised P1-billion bounty for Duterte and incoming PNP Chief Dela Rosa’s heads
- Dela Rosa claimed an insider told him about the plot
- NBP spokesman Msgr. Robert Olaguer believed that Dela Rosa was fed wrong information
New Bilibid Prison officials doubt the accuracy of reports that convicted drug lords serving prison term in the national penitentiary raised P1-billion bounty to have President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and incoming PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa assassinated.
Dela Rosa earlier claimed that several drug lords are conducting meetings inside the penitentiary to plot for his and Duterte’s assassination due to their strong stance against illegal drugs. At least 20 crime lords are reportedly involved in the “Kill-Duterte” plot.
The Standard’s Joel Zurbano said according to Msgr. Robert Olaguer, Bureau of Corrections spokesperson and the NBP’s chaplain, he and other NBP officials were not aware of the reported meetings and the plot to kill Duterte and Dela Rosa.
Latest reports said former Justice Secretary and now senator-elect Leila De Lima and Bureau of Corrections Director Rainier Cruz III were also included as assassination targets.
Msgr. Olaguer believed Dela Rosa was fed wrong information.
“It is possible he [Dela Rosa] has an insider [inmate] who gives him information but you can’t be so sure if this information is true,” he said, adding even the PNP intelligence unit is finding it hard to check and verify the information.
The incoming PNP Chief claimed a mole inside the prison facility told him about the plot.
“What they did not know is that one of those present in the meeting has been squealing what they had discussed to me,” Dela Rosa said.
Reports of the assassination plot came following Duterte’s announcement that he is offering P5 million for each captured drug lord, dead or alive.
