Some of the best love teams in Philippine showbiz aren’t necessarily teen stars or yuppies. This June, moviegoers will definitely get bitten by the love bug with the premier of The Achy Breaky Hearts.
The romantic film, starring Jodi Sta. Maria, Ian Veneracion, and Richard Yap, tells the story of Chinggay, a jewelry shop manager in her 30s played by Sta. Maria, who finds herself meeting the wrong men while under pressure to finally find “The One.”
“Lahat ng babae may boyfriend goals. Pero paano kung sa tagal, maging long-term goals? Namatayan ka na, wala ka pa rin jowa. [All girls have boyfriend goals. But what if it takes so long, they become long-term goals? Some of those closest to you have passed on yet, you still don’t have any lover],” explains the narration in the latest teaser trailer released by Star Cinema, as earlier reported by ABS-CBN News.
But things get a tad more complicated for Chinggay when two men, Ryan who is played by Veneracion, and Frank who is played by Yap, enter her life at the same time.
“Paano kung may dumating na relationship goals? At may bumalik na reconciliation goals? [What if someone with relationship goals comes along? And someone with reconciliation goals comes back?] Choose one only!” the narration continues.
Directed by Antoinette Jadaone of That Thing Called Tadhana fame, this would be the first time the three actors would be working on the same project together.
The movie title takes inspiration from 1992 pop hit by American country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
The Achy Breaky Hearts is set to hit theaters nationwide on June 29.
