- VP-elect Leni Robredo will be holding a simple inauguration at her new office on June 30
- Robredo’s camp decided to follow President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s preference to hold a separate inauguration
- June 30 is the official start of the term of the new President, VP, and other officials
Vice President-elect Leni Robredo is set to hold a separate simple inauguration ceremony at her new office at the Quezon City Reception House.
Details of Robredo’s oath-taking were revealed after President-elect Rodrigo Duterte indicated his preference to hold his own inauguration separately at Malacañang.
“Minabuti nating sundan ang ginawa ni President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, na nagpasyang gawin ang kaniyang inagurasyon sa Malacañang, kung saan siya mag-o-opisina. Kaya gagawin natin ang inaugural sa Quezon City Reception House, na siyang magiging opisyal na opisina ng ating pangalawang pangulo. [We decided to follow what President-elect Rodrigo Duterte did, after he decided to hold his inauguration at Malacañang where he holds office. So we will be doing the inaugural at the Quezon City Reception House, which will be the official office of our vice president],” Robredo’s chief of staff and head of the transition committee Boyet Dy told GMA News.
Robredo plans to hold her inauguration at 9 in the morning of June 30, which will include a flag ceremony with representatives from different sectors of society, the singing of the national anthem by the Payatas Children’s Choir, the oath-taking proper, and a short message from the incoming Vice President.
Two barangay captains, Rolando Coner of Punta Tarawal, considered as the “smallest, farthest, and poorest” in the third district of Camarines Sur, and Regina Celeste San Miguel of Barangay Mariana where the QC Reception House is located, will be administering the oath of office for Robredo.
The transition team also said that only around 300 guests, including supporters and sectoral representatives are expected to attend Robredo’s inauguration.
Only 300 guests at most will be invited to Robredo’s own inauguration, including sectoral representatives.
“Tinitiyak naming magkakaroon ng kinatawan ang bawat sektor sa inagurasyon. Lalo na mula sa mga nasa laylayan ng lipunan, na matagal na pinagsilbihan ni VP Leni bilang abugado ng mahihirap at higit pa niyang pagsusumikapang pagsilbihan bilang pangalawang pangulo, sa tulong ng iba’t ibang katuwang. [We make sure that every sector will be represented in the inauguration. Especially those from the fringes of society, whom VP Leni has long served as a lawyer for the poor and whom she will work even harder for as vice president, with the help of other partners],” Dy added.
In the afternoon of June 30, the Vice President-elect will meet join supporters at the Quezon Memorial Circle for a thanksgiving party.
