PRINCETON, New Jersey – A video of a boy doing his own style of “happy dance” after hearing his mother’s voice through hearing aid is melting hearts of the online community.
Gillian Mohney mentioned in her article for ABC News that Kaiden Orantes, 2, was given hearing aids after he was diagnosed with a progressive hearing loss.
Caitlin Orantes, Kaiden’s mother, said doctors are not sure exactly why the boy’s sense of hearing is diminishing, but it is getting worse from the time he was born. As an effort to improve the boy’s hearing condition and help him learn words, doctors attached special hearing aids to Kaiden this week.
“He started freaking out and did the happy dance,” said Caitlin describing the exact moment Kaiden heard the sound more clearly.
The mother said that even before hearing aids are fitted to him, Kaiden is fond of music and dancing.
“He is super drawn to music. … That’s something he can hear surprisingly [well]. It transfers into your brain in a completely different way than [other] sounds would,” the mother said.
An article by Johanna Li for Inside Edition said that Kaiden is now seen running around the house and playing on his toy guitars, all thanks to the hearing aids.
“This kid is obsessed with music. I’ve had videos of him going crazy and trying to sing. He can’t form too many words,” Caitlin said.
The mother is now positive that because of Kaiden’s new hearing aids, he can be able to attend music classes. The mother also hopes that her son can get a cochlear implant someday, even though the doctors are not sure to what is the exact cause of the condition.
“He’s finally able to hear the sound he’s creating. It’s so priceless,” Caitlin said.
