- Cong. Gloria Arroyo was discharged from St. Luke’s Medical Center on Friday, July 22
- She was admitted on July 21 for an executive medical checkup
- Ex-SolGen Devanadera said Arroyo is well enough to attend Pres. Duterte’s first SONA
Second District of Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been discharged from St. Luke’s Medical Center.
According to an article written by RG Cruz for ABS-CBN News, the former president’ close friend, former Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera, disclosed that Arroyo was discharged from the hospital before 3 p.m. on Friday, July 22.
Devanedera said Arroyo needed to undergo an executive medical checkup.
“Some tests were done last night and the others were done today. Some of the results of her tests are not yet in. But as for her blood works, her cholesterol is remarkably high which bears watching,” she added.
Arroyo was admitted to the hospital a few hours after she was released from hospital arrest at Veterans Medical Memorial Center in Quezon City on Thursday, July 21.
She was arrested in October 2012 and had been placed under hospital arrest because of complications after a cervical spine surgery she underwent in 2011.
Her freedom came two days after the Supreme Court has acquitted her of plunder charges stemming from anomalies in the P365-million Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office confidential and intelligence funds during her term as the Philippine president.
Sitting en banc on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, the Supreme Court voted 11-4 to grant Arroyo’s motion demurrer to evidence and junk the Sandiganbayan’s ruling which set the motion for Arroyo’s trial.
In granting the former president’s motion, the Supreme Court deemed that the evidence against her are weak.
Devanedera assured that Arroyo is well enough to attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 25.
GMA News Online quoted her as saying: “In fact, nagpe-prepare na at katulad din naman natin siya na babae, ang unang iniisip, ‘Anong isusuot ko?’ So decided na siya.”
[In fact, she’s preparing already and just like all women, her first thought was. ‘What will I wear?’ So she’s really decided.]
