MANILA, Philippines – Fans of the famous Japanese anime, Naruto, cheer as Kakashi’s full face was finally revealed during the latest episode of the series.
The Naruto anime, including both Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, consists of more than 600 episodes, and none of them showed, even a glimpse, of what Kakashi’s face looks like.
Kakashi, one of the key character in the anime, is always seen wearing a mask that hides the majority of his face. In fact, more than a few times, it has been recurring jokes in the series on how Kakashi’s appearance is behind the mask.
Inquirer mentioned in an article that the long wait is finally over as in episode 469 of Naruto: Shippuden, fans finally had a complete glimpse of what the mysterious character’s face looks like.
Episode 469 takes place in the past, one of Squad-7’s earliest adventures. In the episode, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are frustrated by Kakashi’s unwillingness to show his face, so they partner with a photographer to get hard evidence of what exactly Kakashi looks like under his mask.
Unfortunately for the three young ninjas, Kakashi is totally in on the stunt. In fact, Kakashi was the photographer hired by the group to unmask their master, albeit in a clever disguise.
Although the episode is an anime-only filler, the audience appreciates that the makers of the anime finally gave what the fans have been demanding for quite some time.
An article by Cameron Koch for Tech Times said that Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto’s creator, had previously expressed interest in revealing Kakashi’s face earlier. However, he wasn’t sure in what form he would do it; saying it might happen in the manga or in an anime film.
The event has yet to transpire in the manga, though a drawing of unmasked Kakashi by Kishimoto was featured at an art exhibition last year,
