- Inday Sara will skip the first SONA of her father, President Duterte
- The Davao City Mayor was advised by her doctors at St. Luke’s Medical Center to rest for a couple of days
- Sara will be represented by her husband, Lawyer Manases Carpio
Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will skip her father’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) after her doctor advised her to rest for a couple of days when she went for a medical check-up at St. Luke’s Medical Center on Monday morning, July 25.
Nestor Corrales of Inquirer wrote that according to Jefry Tupas, Davao City Information Officer, the Davao City mayor went to the hospital for a medical check-up upon arrival in Manila.
“She was advised complete rest at least for a couple of days by her doctor. But there is nothing to worry [about]. The mayor is doing well now,” Tupas said in a statement.
Inday Sara, as the city mayor is known to all Davaoeños, expressed regret that she can’t be with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, during the very important occasion.
“That she will not able to attend the SONA is something that the mayor deeply regrets as she wants to be with the President during this very important occasion and proud moment for the Filipinos and the Philippines. The mayor reiterates her earlier statement that the President’s SONA should detail how the promise of change made during the campaign will be fulfilled, and how this promise can eventually create meaningful changes and developments in the lives of the Filipinos and the Philippines,” Tupas added.
Inday Sara is supposed to represent her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman and her brothers, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo and Sebastian Duterte.
She will be represented by her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio.
