MANILA, Philippines – The majestic beauty of Palawan once again earned recognition as the best island in the world by an international magazine Travel and Leisure.
Cherry Camachon mentioned in her article for ABS-CBN News that Palawan first received the sought-after top spot in the list in 2013, and now, once again, the magazine said: “it’s little surprise that the island is back at the top.”
“Visitors are greeted with mountains rising out of impossibly turquoise waters, where shipwrecks and reefs make for prime scuba diving and snorkeling,” the travel magazine, Travel and Leisure, said on its website.
The magazine also quoted one voter saying that “Palawan is every beach lover’s dream destination” and a “wonderful and magical place”.
An article by The Filipino Times said that the travel magazine also noted Puerto Princesa’s five-mile-long underground river and its limestone caverns, as well as the coral reefs with abundant species of marine life.
Aside from the majestic view, tourists can also go snorkeling and hiking in the island paradise which is home to many species of endangered wildlife.
Aside from Palawan, two more Philippine islands made it to the top ten list.
