  • Bato Dela Rosa led the burning of P1.78 billion worth of illegal drugs in Cavite
  • Burned drugs included 400kgs of shabu and other assorted drugs
  • Dela Rosa said he wants quick burning of illegal drugs to stifle cops who recycle them
  • He also vowed to clean up the police force of cops involved in the illegal drug trade

MANILA, Philippines – As part of his drive to cleanse the police ranks of “ninja” cops, PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa led the burning of illegal drugs worth P1.78 billion in a facility in Trece Martirez, Cavite on Thursday, July 14.

Also present during the burning was Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isidro Lapeña and Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Persida Rueda Acosta.

The destroyed drugs included 400kgs of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, 66 liters of liquid shabu, and an assortment of other illegal substances.

Chemists checked the substances to make sure they are the same ones seized before burning them.

Dela Rosa expressed hope that the quick burning of illegal substances would prevent corrupt officers from recycling the drugs and peddling them back in the streets.

He also vowed to punish any erring cop caught in the act of selling seized drugs.

“Kaya nga natin pinagtatanggal ‘yung mga noted natin itong mga nagre-recycle, pinagtatapon natin sa Mindanao o kung saang banda ng lupalop ng mundo para hindi na maulit ‘yung mga ginagawang ganun. Pag nangyari pa ‘yan ngayon, malalagot talaga sila sa akin,” he told GMA News.

[That’s why we are removing those we noted to be recycling drugs, we are throwing them to Mindanao or any other part of the world so they won’t be able to do that anymore. If they still keep on doing it now, they will really have to answer to me.]
