MEXICO CITY, Mexico – A taxi driver in Mexico is joining the Pokemon Go craze as he offers to drive customers around to search for the augmented reality game’s target creatures.

Pokemon Go became an instant hit after it was released; with reports saying it has more users than Twitter in the Unites States just a week after it was launched. Statistics showed that players are spending longer time on the application than some of the most popular social platforms like Instagram or WhatsApp.

Yahoo News mentioned in an article that Pokemon Go, which is produced by Nintendo Co, is not yet available in Mexico. However, in some ways, some users have apparently worked out how to access the game.

Pokemon Go requires players to physically walk or drive around in the real world to capture Pokemon creatures, and in this rule, 29-year-old taxi driver jumped in the craze.

Emilio Cacho, a taxi driver from the city of Minatitlan in the eastern state of Veracruz, said he began offering services as a “Pokemon hunter” on Monday and has received more than 20 calls since the start of the week.

“I didn’t know about the game, but I heard a lot of talk about people going out to look for Pokemons, so I thought it was a good way to make money, now that the economic situation in Veracruz is so difficult,” Cacho said as quoted in an article by Reuters.

Cacho said he charges 130 pesos ($7.04) for the first hour to pursue Pokemons, then 100 pesos for each subsequent hour.

Pokémon Go is a free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile game which is developed by Niantic and published by The Pokémon Company. The game was released in July 2016 for iOS and Android devices and received an overwhelming welcome from players.

The game allows players to either “capture, battle, or train virtual creatures”, called Pokémon, which appears on device screens as though in the real world. The game makes use of GPS and the camera of compatible devices.
