MANILA, Philippines – Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) batchmates Yeng Constantino and Jay-R Siaboc reunited on ASAP on Sunday, July 31. They sang their duet of the “Rivermaya” original song “Himala”.
This was Siaboc’s first appearance on “ASAP” after making headlines last July following his surrender to the Toledo City, Cebu police to remove his name from the accusation that he is a drug pusher.
When he appeared on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” on July 19, Siaboc shared that the police told him they’ll remove his name from the supposed ‘watch list’ of illegal drug users and pushers.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying: “Sabi nila sa akin, sige tatanggalin nga daw ‘yung pangalan ko sa sinasabing ‘watch list.’ Tapos may pina-fill up sila sa akin. The rest po ng nangyari doon, naki-cooperate ako sa kanila. Gusto ko lang po talaga klaruhin, linisin na hindi po totoo ‘yung sinasabi nila.”
[They told me they’ll remove my name from the ‘watch list’. Then they asked me to fill-up a form. The rest of what happened there, I cooperated with them. I just wanted to clear my name from the accusations.]
Siaboc confessed that he used drugs in the past but denied he was selling them. He added that he stopped using drugs three years ago.
After she heard the news of Siaboc’s surrender, Constantino expressed her support to the former’s decision.
She said in an interview with ABS-CBN News: Una sa lahat, maganda yung desisyon na ginawa niya dahil gusto niya na magbago na ng buhay.
[First of all, he did the right thing because he wanted to change for the better. Secondly, we can really see that the political will of President Duterte has this kind of effect. We can see that the people who know they’ve done something wrong are coming out and surrendering themselves because they want to quit using drugs.]
Constantino said she is hoping to find a way to connect with Siaboc and told him that she’ll back him up with prayers.
She said: “Tama ‘yung ginawa mong desisyon at kasama mo kami sa likod mo diyan. Gusto mong magbagong buhay, alam namin. (You did the right thing and we’re behind you on this. We know that you want to change.) We will back you up with prayers at sana ay magka-connect tayo para magka-usap tayo very soon (and I hope we can connect and talk very soon).”
Siaboc was the runner-up behind Constantino in the 2006 edition of Pinoy Dream Academy.
The video of their performance which was uploaded to Youtube received positive reviews.
Many people are hoping that this is the start of the revival of Siaboc’s career.
