FRESNO, California – Jalen Bailey, an 8-year-old boy from California became a young entrepreneur and started his own bakery having one goal in mind; to earn enough money to support his single mother and buy her a new house.

“I just want one that me and my mom can be happy,” said Jalen in an article by Nicole Pelletiere for ABC News.

Sharhonda Mahan, Jelan’s mother, is also an entrepreneur and a single mother. Sharhonda has been an encouraging force for Jalen to start his own business, which is baking.

According to Sharhonda, Jalen has been baking for two years and has decided to start raising money so that he can fulfill his dream to buy a larger home and shift from current rental home in Fresno, California.

“He’s very excited. It seems like the more orders he gets, the more excited he gets and the more serious he gets about his business,” Sharhonda said.

Jalen’s interest in baking made him choose it as a business. The young boy makes cookies tarts, muffins, and cakes and also has his own website for his company called “Jalen’s Bakery.”

Jalen says on his website that, “he bakes everything from scratch because he likes to know what is inside of what he is eating.” The young boy, along with his mom, even deliver orders locally and invites order through the website.

Jalen has attended a business event to network with the business professionals and received a good number of orders. In one incident, a man even offered to give him a used oven so that he can bake even more cookies.

Apart from having a dream of buying a new house, Jalen also wants to raise money for his college and at the same time, to give back to the community.

“I said I wanted to be a millionaire, I thought that wasn’t possible, but now I think it is,” the young entrepreneur cited.

Jalen’s Bakery GoFundMe page was also initiated to help the young entrepreneur to reach his goal quicker.
