- Purported house belonging to solon’s driver closely scrutinized
- Village chief claimed De Lima seen with driver in white house
- Neighbors mum about other details though
URBIZTONDO, Pangasinan – Was President Rodrigo Duterte referring to this house when he berated Sen. Leila de Lima?
Currently drawing scrutiny after the president’s thrashing of the senator is a two-story white house located in Brgy. Galarin in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan.
According to village chief Rodolfo Licuanan, De Lima’s driver, Ronnie Palisoc Dayan, lives in the white house. He also said De Lima stays there whenever she visits their municipality.
“I knew she was around because people would tell me that she was here,” he told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Licuanan added that the senator visited them last December.
“A little cash, P50 for the children and P100 for the adults. But she did not go around; it’s the people who went to the house,” he said.
However, he declined to confirm Duterte’s allegation that De Lima gave the house as a gift to Dayan.
“I don’t know,” he answered.
A resident though, claimed De Lima and Dayan would be seen at the public market on weekends when she visited on occasion.
“We would see them on weekends. She would arrive on a Saturday and leave on a Sunday,” the resident said.
An Orange House Too?
Aside from the white house, Dayan is also said to own an orange bungalow in the same village. According to neighbors, the house was completed only in March this year.
Licuanan said Dayan’s children live in the bungalow but was not sure if his wife also lived there.
“He has two married children with their own families, while his youngest child is still in high school,” he said.
Neither the senator nor Dayan have aired their statement on the houses so far.
