- Bob Arum will come to Manila to meet Manny Pacquiao
- They will discuss Pacquiao’s comeback fight
- Arum said Pacquiao’s possible opponents are Jessie Vargas and Terence Crawford
Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum is scheduled to arrive in Manila on August 9 to meet with Sen. Manny Pacquiao and dicsuss th latter’s comeback fight.
Accoding to an article published by Manila Times, the veteran boxing promoter said in a phone interview: “I will fly over to Manila and meet Manny [Pacquiao] to discuss to him the details of his return bout. I have already booked my flight to Manila. I’m looking forward to that meeting.”
He revealed that at the moment, the candidates for Pacquiao’s next opponent are World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Jessie Vargas and unified junior welterweight WBO and World Boxing Council champion Terence Crawford.
Both Vargas and Crawford are promoted by Arum.
Crawford previously expressed that he is willing to fight Pacquiao but he intends to fight him in the light welterweight division.
This means, Pacquiao, who has been fighting as a welterweight (147 pounds) since 2012, needs to lose weight in order to face Crawford.
As for Vargas, he is also excited over the possibility of facing the Filipino boxing icon inside the boxing ring.
The National quoted him as saying during the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame function on Friday, July 29: “I am the WBO welterweight champion and he wants to return to fight for this belt. So I am happy to give him a title shot.”
Pacquiao announced his retirement after facing and defeating Bradley last April to focus on his political career.
However, he opened up recently that he plans return inside the boxing ring because he really misses boxing.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying: “Aminin ko ah (I will admit), boxing is my passion.”
His comeback fight is scheduled on November 5 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
