Caloocan City officials underwent a surprise drug test after Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan called for an “emergency meeting”.
“Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan conducts a surprise drug test, after calling on all city councilors and department heads in the guise of an emergency meeting at the mayor’s office. Upon settling down and waiting for the meeting’s agenda, the local legislators and executives were surprised when Mayor Malapitan introduced to them the doctors and personnel of the Biomedics Medical Clinic, an independent drug test company, who will administer the drug tests,” said a statement from the Caloocan Public Information Office.
According to the statement, Malapitan himself was the first one to be administered with the drug tests. He was followed by the other city officials.
Surprise drug testing results
After all the urine samples were collected and tagged, the test results were immediately released.
To the relief of the mayor, all councilors and department heads who underwent the surprise drug testing had negative results. Likewise, the officials had negative results again in the confirmatory test.
“A confirmatory test through blood samples also yielded negative results for all the councilors and department heads,” the statement disclosed.
Meanwhile, Malapitan noted that the surprise drug tests will be done in all departments and offices to all personnel and staff in the city.
“This initiative is in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, and to get rid of drug dependents in the bureaucracy,” Malapitan said.
