- Police arrested gov’t surgeon in buy-bust operation
- He was nabbed along with original target of buy-bust
- Criminal and administrative charges to be filed against him
BUTUAN CITY – Amid the ongoing war against drugs, police arrested a doctor after he was caught red-handed buying drugs.
Arrested in the buy-bust operation in Butuan City was Dr. Frederick Padilla, a surgeon working at the Butuan Medical Center along with the original target Jefrix Namoca Galon.
The raid yielded 4 grams of shabu estimated to be worth P47,2000, drug paraphernalia and cash. Found in Padilla’s possession were three sachets of shabu and a glass tooter.
According to the Butuan police’s anti-drugs chief Police Supt. Rowena Martinez, they had been monitoring Galon’s movements.
“We monitored the subject known as Jepoy for about two weeks, this person is on the watch list of illegal drug personalities in the street level category in Butuan City,” she told InterAksyon. “We observed that he had been staying at Gloreto Guest House for quite some time, and has been transferring from one room to another.”
With regards to Padilla, Martinez said they initially thought he was someone tied with the government’s security sector after they noticed a government-plated vehicle visiting the establishment where Galon was staying.
“The surgeon who we observed over the past few days to be visiting the accommodation establishment was a buyer. Initially, we even thought that the person with the Rio car was someone working in the security sector of the government. That’s why we asked to have SWAT to back us up. Over all we seized an estimated total weight of around 4 grams of shabu, which Dangerous Drug Board valued at PhP47,200.00,” she said.
Aside from the criminal charges for breaking the country’s anti-illegal drug law, Padilla will also be facing administrative charges after Butuan Mayor Ronnie Lagnada ordered the city fiscal to probe the incident.
