Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson tops list of highest paid actors

Actor Dwayne Johnson, who was widely known as “The Rock” on his previous career on wrestling, on Thursday was declared first on the list by Forbes magazine among the world’s highest paid actors.

After having received advance fees from the eighth part of well-known racing movie “Fast and Furious” and through his action comedy entitled “Central Intelligence,” he had an estimated 2016 payday of $64.5 million; pushing Robert Downey, Jr. from the first spot.

Downey, who starred as “Iron Man”, went down from first spot to the eight with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan; with $33 million despite the rise of “Captain America: Civil War.”

Second on the list is Jackie Chan, a productive actor in the Chinese entertainment having $61 million and third placer Matt Damon with $55 million also spotted on the list mainly through his star role in the 2015 space film “The Martian.”

The rest of the Top 10 were: 4. Tom Cruise $53 million 5. Johnny Depp $48 million 6. Ben Affleck $43 million 7. Vin Diesel $35 million 8. Shah Rukh Khan $33 million 8. Robert Downey Jr. $33 million 10. Kumar Akshay $31 million

Harrison Ford who starred as Han Solo on the blockbuster “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” movie and video game, rank 20th for the first time since 2009 and is planning to redeem his character as adventurer Indiana Jones in 2019.

Recorded earnings of actors are estimated by Forbes before taxes and management fees; from movies, TV and commercial endorsements. Actress Jennifer Lawrence who starred as main lead in Hunger Games was declared the world’s highest paid actress since last year having $46 million this 2016.

According to Forbes, 18 actors banked more than $20 million in its June 2015-June 2016 scoring period, compared with four actresses.
