- A hero dog dies protecting an 8-month-old baby when a fire broke out in their house
- The baby survived although she had burns on her side
- Viviana’s condition remains critical and still currently being monitored
It’s another heartbreaking day when a dog saved a human’s life.
Instead of running from the fire, a dog stayed and shielded the daughter of her master from the fire that broke out in Baltimore, Maryland.
Erika Poremski was surprised when she saw that their house was on fire and the worst part was that her daughter Viviana was inside it.
“I tried really hard, everyone in the neighborhood tried. They were kicking the doors in and kicking the windows out. I couldn’t (get her out). Nobody could,” Poremski was quoted in an ABC story published August 19.
Firefighters were able to rescue Poremski’s precious angel and found their dog Polo with her; covering her with his body.
“He stayed with her the whole time in the bedroom and wouldn’t even come downstairs to get out the door.”
The poor baby Viviana only had burns on her side because Polo protected her from the fire.
This has made Poremski so thankful to her dog who she also considers as her baby.
“He was my first baby and now I lost him… And I’m just praying I don’t lose her. She’s all I have and it just happened so fast, I just don’t understand it. I just don’t know why this stuff happens,” she said.
According to the mother, Polo may have established a special bond with her daughter; that’s why it was an instinct for him to protect her.
Viviana remains to be in critical condition and is currently being monitored. A family friend has set up a Go Fund Me page for the poor baby to raise funds for her treatment. As of posting time, the page has already received $33,071 out of their $50,000 goal.
