- Davao City mayor scored doctor who called her triplet-pregnancy announcement a PR stunt
- She said gov’t officials have to explain why they are absent in important events
- Duterte’s followers also blasted doctor for remark
MANILA, Philippines – A fuming Sara Duterte took to social media to blast a lady doctor who accused her of using her pregnancy as a PR stunt for President Rodrigo Duterte.
On her Instagram, the Davao City mayor scored Dr. Raquel del Rosario-Fortun for being bitter about the announcement and explained that it was necessary because she is a government official.
“Ah yes PR pero bago ka mag tweet basahin mo muna yung PR nang hindi ka magmukhang dugyot na ampalaya [Yes, it’s a PR but before you tweet you should read the PR so you wouldn’t look like a crumpled ampalaya]. Please take note, that public officials need to explain their absence in important events. And when I do get the heartache, it will still be a media blitz and when we defy the odds it will be a PR fiesta and you will still be Miss Bittermelon,” she wrote.
Duterte added that Fortun is only unhappy over the announcement because she apparently is not a supporter of the president.
“Turn off your twitter, do your work, mind your own business and spare yourself the heartache,” she wrote.
On her Facebook, Fortun — aside from saying it was a PR stunt — also advised Duterte not to rejoice over her seven-week pregnancy just yet.
“Too early to rejoice over 7weeker lalo na triplets. Wait for delivery and spare oneself from heartache. PR for Lolo?” she wrote.
Amid a series of angry posts left in her account, an apparently contrite Fortun later explained she didn’t mean any ill-will towards Duterte.
“Came frm work havent read everything on my TL yet. I never doubted ur pregnancy Mayor Duterte I do wish you well. Had 2 miscarriages myself,” read her explanation.
