New Ways Ministry, an LGBT advocacy group, slammed Pope Francis’ remarks; referring to school’s teaching of gender identity to young children.

“The pontiff’s remarks are further evidence that church officials need desperately to educate themselves about the lives and experiences of LGBT people,” said New Ways Ministry Executive Director Francis De Bernardo.

“Nobody chooses a gender identity. They discover it,” he pointed out as he asked the Vatican to establish a commission which shall update the understanding of the church on gender identity and sexual orientation.

In a closed-door meeting with Polish priests and bishops in Krakow on Wednesday, Pope Francis tagged the teaching of gender identity to young children in schools ‘terrible.’

“Today, in schools they are teaching this to children — to children! — that everyone can choose their gender,” the enraged Pope said.

The pontiff was angered by the textbooks supplied by “persons and institutions who donate money” that spread a gender theory, which he called the “ideological colonization, supported by very influential countries.”

Opposing the gender theory saying, the Pope, however, said that “getting rid of the problem is not the solution.”

Francis, who is Argentine, didn’t give examples of a curriculum of this type. But analysts say he has harbored resentment for ideological colonialism call; the notion that international groups that offer assistance to developing countries that are subject to adoption of Western values.

It can be recalled that in April last year, Pope said: “I wonder if so-called gender theory may not also be an expression of frustration and resignation that aims to erase sexual differentiation because it no longer knows how to come to terms with it.”

Pope Emeritus Benedict earlier told Pope Francis: “This is the age of sin against God the Creator!”
