CEBU, Philippines – The Cordova town policeman who went missing after he tagged two retired PNP generals as drug protectors in their station blotter has been found dead.
The body of P02 Ryan Casiban was found decomposing in a firing range in Lapu-Lapu City. He died from a lone gunshot wound to the head.
According to Cordova police chief Senior Inspector Jomar Medil, Casiban called their former chief Senior Inspector Zosimo Jabas Jr. and asked for help because he was supposedly being hunted down.
“Jabas mentioned that Casiban told him he was being threatened by Atan Tajanlangit’s men,” Medil told Sun Star.
Medil added that they interviewed Tajanlangit, a police officer from the Cebu Provincial Police Office who said he had no clue why Casiban brought his name up.
“The two men are friends. In fact, Casiban was fond of asking Tajanlangit for fighting cocks,” he said.
Shortly before he went missing, Casiban wrote down the names of Garbo and Loot in their station blotter and tagged them as drug protectors.
“Gen. Garbo and Gen. Loot are drug syndicate of the Phils. Because of money protected by his men, PNP organization to stop illegal drugs,” read one entry.
“Gen Garbo and Gen. Loot drug syndicate of the Phils because of big drug money protected by his men PNP organization. I want to write what is justice for all to stop all illegal drugs. God is in me,” read another entry.
For her part, Casiban’s wife said she had no idea if her husband was himself linked to the illegal drug trade. Medil on the other hand said Casiban passed a surprise drug test conducted last month.
