MANILA, Philippines – A disgruntled netizen has taken to Facebook to air his disappointment with remittance company LBC for supposed lack of action and cooperation over a complaint he filed a few days ago.

In a Facebook post by one Rom Sarmiento Son, he narrated how he lost P24,720 he sent through LBC Express Robinsons Novaliches branch. The money was supposedly intended for his sister and cousin’s tuition fees.

According to Son’s story, after sending the money at the branch on August 1, he kept the tracking number and did not immediately send it to his sister for lack of time.’

The next day, however, he received two separate text messages –about 1-and-a-half-hour apart – from LBC informing him that his sister has already claimed the remittance.

Surprised that he has not sent the tracking number yet to his sister, he immediately called LBC to ask how it could have happened.

Someone he spoke with confirmed that the money was indeed claimed by someone claiming to be his sister in Cebu.

However, upon checking with his sister, she said she was in Las Piñas City and had never gone to Cebu.

He was also told by an LBC staff in the same branch where he sent the money, named Jhoanna Jimenez, that his ‘sister’ who claimed the remittance provided a postal ID before the money was released, but his real sister never had one.

To cut the long story short, he filed a complaint with the LBC Customer Care demanding for the return of his hard-earned cash but was reportedly given the runaround. He said almost two weeks had passed and nothing came out of the case.

He also lamented the LBC SM Center Las Piñas and the LBC Robinsons Novaliches for lack of cooperation by refusing to issue any document saying that his sister never received the money.

The company also allegedly refused to give him the copy of the photo and the ID of the woman who claimed the remittance in Cebu.

Because of what happened, Son narrated, his sister and the cousin were unable to take their exams for failing to pay their school fees.
