- Senator’s archnemesis said her driver worked as bagman for imprisoned drug lords
- She said he would go inside Bilibid to collect money from them weekly
- She also said she felt vindicated by Duterte’s pronouncement
MANILA, Philippines – Embattled Sen. Leila de Lima found herself yet again in the crosshairs of old nemesis Sandra Cam as the latter expounded more on President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim her driver Ronnnie Palisoc Dayan worked as a bagman for drug lords detained at the New Bilibids Prison (NBP).
According to the former jueteng whistleblower, Dayan would go inside the NBP once a week to collect P5 million from the drug lords.
“Si lalaki, labas-masok ng BuCor ‘yang si Ronnie Palisoc Dayan. Kumukuha siya ng pera sa mga drug lord sa loob [The guy would frequently go inside BuCor to get money from drug lords],” she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
However, Cam did not give details on where the money went, saying she would not want to preempt President Rodrigo Duterte.
“May pinagbibigyan siya nu’ng drug money na kinukubra niya. I don’t want to preempt the president, ibibigay ni Presidente ang detalye tungkol diyan,” she said.
[He was giving someone the drug money that he took. I don’t want to preempt the president, he will give the details about that.]
Cam added that De Lima also showed favoritism toward Jaybee Sebastian, the head of the Commando Gang.
“After 2014, nag-raid raid siya (De Lima) sa Bilibid ‘di ba? Nalipat pa nga ang Bilibid 19 sa NBI Pero may isa siyang hindi dinala sa NBI, ‘yung commander ng Commando Gang si Jaybee Sebastian,” she said.
[After 2014, she ordered a raid in Bilibid, right? They transferred the Bilibid 19 to NBI. But she left out one inside Bilibid: Jaybee Sebastian, the commander of the Commando Gang.]
With the senator facing a possible probe and criminal charges, Cam said she pitied De Lima but nonetheless felt vindicated with Duterte’s pronouncement.
“I pitied her but this is karma for her. I feel vindicated,” she said.
