The Chicago Children’s Choir, which is composed of American students, performed an a cappella version of Sarah Geronimo’s 2014 hit song “Kilometro”
The international touring ensemble was founded in 1956 during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. It is a nonprofit organization committed to peacefully uniting a diverse world through education, musical expression, and excellence.
As seen on the Youtube video uploaded by user TAP The Arts Palette, the group received a big round of applause from the audience after their performance.
The video of the performance received a lot of positive feedback from social media users, especially from the Popstar Princess’ fans, although some of them are wondering whether or not the performers understood the meaning of the words.
One social media user commented that the arrangement of the song that the group used is the same as the arrangement used by the Flipino-American boy band The Filharmonic who recorded an a cappella version of the song and posted it on their official YouTube channel on June 20, 2015.
“Kilometro”, which was written by Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana, was the carrier single of Sarah’s eleventh studio album Perfectly Imperfect.
It premiered on different radio stations nationwide on September 17, 2014.
With “Kilometro”, Sarah represented our country in the 10th International Song Contest: The Global Sound in July 2015
She was one of the 70 semi-finalists from different countries all over the world and later on advanced as one of the top 25 finalists. In the final round of the competition, the singer-actress won the “Gold Global Sound” Award as the top recognition.
