KERALA, India – The Philippines once again proved its might when it comes to beauty pageants as Trixia Maria Maraña was crowned Miss Asia 2016.
An article by ABS-CBN News said that the 23-year-old beauty queen bested 17 other contestants in the pageant held Thursday night in Kerala India.
Marana, who is from Dumaguete, competed against beauties from Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Russia, Nepal, Myanmar, Moldova, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Iran, India, Bhutan, Belarus, Bangladesh, and Azerbaijan.
Aside from winning the title and the crown, Marana also received cash prize and gifts from sponsors.
Following Miss Philippines is Miss Belarus who finished as first runner-up, then Miss India who won second runner-up.
According to Miss Asia website, Marana is a graduate of Asian College of Science and Technology-Dumaguete with a degree in Business Administration major in Management. The beauty queen is currently employed as an auto loan assistant.
An article by The Trending Facts said that Marana is a pageant veteran; joining several local and national pageants in the Philippines before representing the country for Miss Asia 2016.
Back in 2009, she was crowned as Miss Dumaguete City, then won 1st runner-up on Miss Tourism-Philippines in the 2010 competition.
By 2011, Maraña was crowned as Abuyog Queen of Leyte, then she decided to join Mutya ng Pilipinas and became a finalist in 2014.
Marana is also the 1st Runner-up of Sinulog Queen de Kabankalan and won Miss Negros-Oriental in 2015.
Now on its second year, Miss Asia is a beauty pageant from the house of Pegasus in India “hoping to find the most beautiful and talented women from the Asian and Eurasian region.”
During their first year, Miss Asia winner is Kanika Kapur of India, while Miss Philippines Alfe Marie Nathanile Dagle Uy was named the first runner-up.
