- The song was her mother Sharon Cuneta’s first hit song

MANILA, Philippines – Good singing voice runs in the ‘Megastar’s’ family.
This was proven by Simone Francesca Emmanuelle Pangilinan, popularly known to the public as ‘Frankie’, the eldest daughter of ‘Megastar’ Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan, when she sang her version of her mother’s first hit song “Mr. DJ” on “Eat Bulaga” on Saturday, August 20.
The teenager was invited to be a judge in the longest-running noontime show’s “Music Hero” segment and aside from her singing prowess, she also showcased her talent in playing the guitar.
On his official Facebook page, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan shared a photo of Frankie playing the guitar while singing and captioned it with the lyrics of “Mr. DJ”: “At sana’y nakikinig siya. Naaalala kaya niya? Ang love song namin noon na niluma na ng panahon.”
He also used the hashtag “proudstagedaddy?” at the end of his post.
On his official Youtube channel, the proud father shared the video of Frankie’s first live performance on TV.
“Mr. DJ” was composed by Rey Valera and was sang by Sharon in 1978.
The song became popular which gave the then 12-year-old Sharon the moniker, “DJ’s Pet”, which also became the title of her debut full-length studio album.
Last year, the ‘Megastar’ shared one rare video of her singing with Frankie and KC Concepcion, as a treat to everyone.
On her Facebook page, Sharon uploaded an impromptu video of the three of them, barefaced and in their house clothes, singing John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
Part of the video’s caption reads: “Sorry po talaga at minsan wala akong paki sa itchura ko talaga kaya napapagalitan ni Mama noon! Hahaha! ‘Di kasi vanidosa, pasensya na!”
[Sorry but there are times when I don’t care about how I look, that is why my mother scolds me often in the past. Not really vain.]
At the beginning of the video, she admitted she’s still sick but she seemed really excited because it’s the first time they’re doing it as a family.
