MANILA, Philippines – An ABS-CN reporter has accused the relatives of recently freed kidnap victim, Martina Yee, of attacking him while trying to conduct an interview with the businesswoman in Zamboanga Del Norte on Wednesday, September 21.

Reuben James “RJ” Rosalado claimed Yee’s two relatives – Roseller Pia Kue and Reiner Pia Kue, both of Zamboanga City – assaulted him at the helipad of Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) camp when he and his cameraman approached the kidnap victim for an interview.

Rosalado said they sought the permission from the Wesmincom to interview Yee who was being flown from Sulu and was due to arrive in Zamboanga. An officer even suggested they can cover Yee’s arrival at the landing area.

“So we went to the helipad area, and there I saw the family of Yee waiting along the road. I approached and talked to them politely and asked if we could interview them. They declined and I said, ‘OK, we will respect that,’” Rosalado said in a text message to GMA News.

Rosalado narrated he did not interview Yee but continued with the coverage of the businesswoman’s arrival.

However, the Kue brothers insisted no one is also allowed to cover their aunt’s arrival.

“Then, Reiner Kue, a relative of Yee, started yelling at me and threatened to attack me and my cameraman if we would insist on covering the arrival of Yee,” Rosalado recalled.

Moments later Roseller Kue allegedly punched Rosalado near the chest while the other brother hit him on his left cheek.

Rosalado said he decided to seek police assistance after the commotion.

But according to the Kue brothers, Rosalado had been arrogant on insisting that the latter cover Yee’s arrival despite their refusal.

The Kues also explained that they have been ‘stressed out’ after receiving reports that their kidnapped aunt has been found dead somewhere.

Meanwhile, Rosalado said he will file charges against the Kue brothers, who are members of the prominent Kue family in Zamboanga Del Norte.
