- Star Cinema Managing Director Malou Santos indirectly confirmed that Angel Locsin is still Darna
- The film is scheduled to be released in 2017
- Angel portrayed the role more than a decade ago when she was still under GMA Network
MANILA, Philippines – So, will Angel Locsin reprise her role as Darna?
It seems there’s already an answer to this question.
According to an article written by Bernie Franco for Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), the 31-year-old actress, who portrayed the role more than a decade ago when she was still under GMA Network, will be reprising her role in the planned movie adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s Filipino comics heroine.
Franco wrote that they were able to talk to Aster Amoyo, a veteran entertainment columnist and talent manager, who confirmed that she was able to talk to Star Cinema Managing Director Malou Santos.
Amoyo said that Santos indirectly confirmed that Angel will still be playing “Darna” and the movie will be released next year.
“The mere fact na hindi nag-a-announce ng ibang pangalan [that they haven’t mentioned anyone else], why do they have to wait this long kung talagang hindi si Angel ang gaganap [if Angel won’t be playing the role], di ba [right]?”
Amoyo added that Santos told her that for now, there’s no one else.
Last year, Locsin announced she has decided not to reprise her role as Darna.
She underwent medical procedures in Singapore late last year and early this year to treat her medical condition.
Now that she’s on her road to recovery, fans are hoping that she can still play the role.
Last July, Angel took her fans to a trip down the memory lane when she shared on Instagram a picture of herself doing the ‘Darna’ pose in a gym.
She captioned her post: “Naks. #yabangpose”
