MANILA, Philippines – Baron Geisler may have admitted that he has drinking problems, but he made it perfectly clear that he’s not using illegal drugs.
Amid the intensive campaign of the government against illegal drugs, the actor conducted a drug test on himself using a portable kit.
On his Facebook page, Baron posted on Wednesday, August 31, photos of himself holding his drug test result, which stated that the actor is negative for both methamphetamine (shabu) and THC (marijuana).
He captioned his post: “thanks to Kowboy for bringing a drug test kit. #QuickProfile. tested negative by the way, i know everyone is wondering about me, im fine and good. I think this is a great idea for everyone to have, just in case anyone is accused online or by the police.”
The actor clarified on Thursday, September 1, that what he did wasn’t intended as a challenge to his fellow celebrities and asked netizens to stop the negative comments.
He wrote: “Can’t understand why there’s so much negative vibes about the drug test photo that I posted yesterday.
Just to make it clear, that was just a spur-of-the-moment thing that we decided to do yesterday during a shooting break with my co-star Kowboy Santos, who also happens to be a really talented actor, aside from being such an awesome rock and blues musician.
We’re not making any claims here. Neither are we making any statements.
Unlike what other netizens are insinuating, this isn’t even supposed to be a challenge to our fellow celebrities.
If any of them feel inspired to do the same, then by all means, they have all the right to do so.
So please stop the hate.”
According to an article published by Manila Bulletin, Baron challenged President Rodrigo Duterte to have his son (he did not mention if he was referring to Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte or Sebastian “Baste” Duterte) undergo a drug test.
“Your son, sabay kami (we’ll do it together). Ngayon o bukas, magpadrug-test [We’ll undergo a drug test right now or tomorrow). Gawin natin [Let’s do it]. What will you do kapag ’yun ang nangyare [if that happens]. Kapag nag-positive siya (If he’s positive), what will you do?” Baron said on the viral video.
