Netizens and celebrities woke up to sad news on Sunday morning because of veteran comedienne Joy Viado’s passing on Saturday night.
Viado, who was 51, died of heart failure as confirmed by her son and close friends. Her son Christopher Viado told DZMM that the actress experienced difficulty of breathing when she went home. They brought her to Quezon City General Hospital, where the doctors tried to revive her, but she was declared dead on arrival.
Prior to this incident, Joy was confined due to diabetes complications. Last year, she made an appeal to save her foot and launched fund-raising projects for hospitalization expenses.
Viado was a veteran in the industry, having acted in projects in all three major broadcasting companies – ABS-CBN, GMA, and TV5. She also starred in various films such as Sisterakas, Da Possessed, and The Trial.
Among her notable roles in TV recently was her character as Lola Paula in Luv U and as Bebot in Kokey at Ako.
Her fellow comedians and celebrities mourn her death.
