MANILA, Philippines – Dennis Trillo added another feather in his cap as he became the first Filipino to win the Asian Star Prize at the 2016 Seoul International Drama Awards on Thursday, September 8 at the KBS Hall, Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea.
The 35-year-old actor bagged the award for his role as Emman dela Paz in the GMA-7 2015 TV series “My Faithful Husband”.
Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) quoted him as saying in his acceptance speech: “I would like to thank the Seoul International Drama Awards for this honor and recognition.
This is very special for me because it is given by the Korean people who is very well known in Korea for creating the best dramas in the world.
In the Philippines, we also to do our best to create quality programs for the Filipino audience and this award will continue to inspire me to hone my craft as a dramatic actor.
I would like to share this award with my home network GMA-7, my family, my loved ones, for all the Filipinos and to my supporters.
Thank you very much.”
On his Instagram account, Trillo shared a photo of his trophy and once again thanked the fans and the people behind “My Faithful Husband”, including Jennylyn Mercado, his co-star in the show and his rumored girlfriend as well.
He wrote: “Hindi mangyayari ang lahat ng ito kung hindi dahil sa aking Kapuso network, sa lahat ng mga sumubaybay sa “My Faithful Husband”, sa aming mahusay na director na si Joyce Bernal, sa aking magaling na manager Popoy Caritativo. At siyempre walang Papaw kung wala si Mamaw Jennylyn Mercado salamat sa inspirasyon at pagmamahal. sa diyos ang lahat ng kapurihan, maraming salamat po.”
