- Heart Evangelista said that painting on Hermes bags is a safe investment
- She revealed that the luxury goods manufacturer is very supportive of her art
- In fact, she did workshop for Hermes last year on silk tying with their clients
MANILA, Philippines – Heart Evangelista, who has expanded her ‘Love Marie’ paintings from a canvas to a handbag when she took a risk by painting on her Hermes Birkin bag with an acrylic for leather after it was almost ruined by the chili fries she was eating, has since then been dubbed as an “Hermes savior”, and she revealed that French high fashion luxury goods manufacturer is in fact, very supportive of her art.
GMA News Online quoted her as saying in an interview on Monday, September 19: “They’re very supportive. Last year, I did a workshop for them on silk tying with their clients. They invited everyone. Super supportive talaga sila (They’re super supportive), and I’m very grateful.”
Heart said that painting on Hermes bags is actually a smart business strategy and a safe investment.
“As a starting artist, it’s important where you put your paintings. It’s a strategy. With Hermès bags, you can auction them out in Europe. The value goes up. It’s a safe investment.” she added.
She said that she has clients who asked her to paint their damaged bags and once she does, the bags look brand-new again.
She is accepting commissions for hand-painted bags and she revealed she gets paid about P60,000 – P80,000 per bag, but she does it for free for her friends.
Earlier this September, Heart opened her first-ever exhibit of the hand-painted Hermes bags she had worked on.
According to an article written by Anj Sampayan for Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), the exhibit, which was dubbed as “Carry your heART”, featured more than 40 hand-painted Hermes bags from the actress’ bag collection, and, partly, her client’s bags.
