Crispin Jasareno, a janitor working in the House of Representatives, is now getting praises in social media for his honesty.
This comes after he voluntarily returned P19,500 in cold cash left by Cebu sixth district representative Jonas Cortes in his seat in Batasang Pambansa’s plenary hall.
According to Congressman Cortes, the janitor went to his office to return the cash without asking for anything in return.
As a sign of gratitude, Rep. Cortes wrote a letter to Congress’ Secretary General Cesar Pareja, asking if it’s possible to give Jasareno a recognition for his integrity and honesty in work.
State-owned media PTV posted Jasareno’s story in their Facebook account, where Jasareno immediately earned praises.
Some netizens said that he should be emulated for his good act, while some said that he is deserving of Congressional recognition.
The post earned almost two thousand likes as of posting time.
Jasareno could not believe it when he learned that his story is now trending in social media. He said that it’s just normal for him to return things which are not his.
He proves that there are still a few people in the world who will restore our faith in humanity.
