MANILA, Philippines – Heart Evangelista, who had expanded her ‘Love Marie’ paintings from a canvas to a handbag, opened her first ever exhibit of the hand-painted Hermes bags she had worked on.
According to an article written by Anj Sampayan for Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), the exhibit, which is dubbed as “Carry your heART”, featured more than 40 hand-painted Hermes bags from Heart’s bag collection, and, partly, her client’s bags. The exhibit is open to the public and will run from September 4 to 9 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Volkswagen BGC, 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Heart attended the opening day together with her husband, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
The senator proudly praised his wife’s creations, saying that all of them are very lovely.
Heart, who has proven time and time again her talent as an artist, shared that she took a risk by painting on her Hermes Birkin bag with an acrylic for leather last year.
GMA News Online quoted her as saying: “It was a bit scary to paint on the bag, parang ‘Oh my gosh, am I really doing this?’ but it looks good so parang what I said, ‘What a lil ouch can do, ‘di ba?
She liked the outcome of what she did so she decided to paint her other luxury bags as well.
She is accepting commissions for hand-painted bags and she revealed she gets paid about P60,000 – P80,000 per bag, but she does it for free for her friends.
Aside from her artworks and acting, the actress launched her book, “This is Me, Love Marie”, last year.
The book is filled with Heart’s simple, helpful makeup tricks, easy skincare how-tos, and confessions on life and love.
Sen. Chiz is very happy that Heart is doing something that she loves aside from acting.
“She’s starting to do something of what she has, like come up with her own brand, as a jump-off from showbiz that we know won’t last forever,” he added, referring to Heart’s other activities.
