A professional mixed martial art fighter and his wife made a difficult decision to take their 15-month-old son off life support after doctors pronounced him brain dead a day after he was tragically mowed down by an alleged drunk driver in Los Angeles County last week.
The baby’s father, Marcus Kowal, said they will donate his organs to another child who may need them.
On Monday, September 5, Kowal took to social media to announce that they will donate their son Liam’s organs to make “another child live.”
“This isn’t easy to write but Liam is going to donate his organs, so that his little heart can make another child live and another set of parents not have to go through what we have to. We were told that we can donate to someone we know.
Therefore, I am writing this post to ask if there is a child out there we know that needs a heart or any other organ.
It hurts to write this but Liam loved to share and the person we were going to raise him to be would love to help someone else. So anyone we know, or someone you know, inbox me please,” Marcus Kowal wrote.
According to NBC Los Angeles, baby Liam was in a stroller being pushed by his teenage aunt through a crosswalk in a busy intersection when an SUV driven by a 72-year-old female driver suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol hit them. Lima’s stroller was cut in half, his aunt was seriously injured. The driver attempted to escape but witnesses chased and cornered her.
