BROOKLYN, New York – An elderly woman has kept the skeletal remains of her son for about a decade in the attic of her cluttered apartment.

Authorities found the decomposing corpse last Thursday in an attic bedroom full of junk in her home at Ave. N near E. 22nd St. in Midwood in Brooklyn.

An article by Myles Miller for Pix11 said that the corpse was discovered after the woman had to be hospitalized after falling and a relative needed to stop by to retrieve some of her things.

Police officials ruled out that the man had died of natural cause. However, the corpse identity is not immediately known.

After the investigation, it was found out that the remains belonged to the woman’s son, a former cab driver who had been living in the same house.

Ross Keithben Kochman mentioned in an article for New York Daily News that a police source said the man was terminally ill and believed to be in his 50s when he died and a family relative had confirmed that they never saw the man for 20 years.

One of the neighbors described the old woman living in the house as a “recluse” one.

“She never said hello. She always walking down the street with a grocery bag [sic],” the neighbor said.

“She would walk looking down. Something about her always seemed a little weird,” the neighbor added.

Another neighbor said that a tan-colored Ford Explorer has been parked in the same spot in the driveway for years, without moving once. The city Medical Examiner has yet to determine the man’s cause of death.
