A mother and her teenage son were shot dead right inside their own home in Rodriguez, Rizal by unidentified men.
The mother, 31-year-old Mary Grace Blando, and her 17-year-old son Rodgie Boy were sleeping inside their house located in Cusa Street, Barangay San Jose, when the four men who were wearing mask on their heads and came on board a motorcycle, suddenly barged in an shot at them.
The suspects then fled the scene riding the same vehicle, as reported earlier by the Inquirer.
A witness nearby heard the gunshots and immediately rushed in to help but found the lifeless and bloodied bodies of the two victims lying on the floor.
Initial investigation by authorities found a possible link to illegal drugs, since seven sachets of what appeared like shabu or methamphetamine were recovered in the crime scene, as well as a bamboo jewelry box, a pair of scissors and a lighter.
However, the mother of Mary Grace belied allegations linking her daughter and grandson to the illegal drug trade, telling GMA News that the mother and son sold gasoline in order to make a living. She also does not recall any time her daughter had been involved in drugs.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez Police station Chief Inspector Raquel Escobedo told PhilStar that neither the mother nor the boy were included in their drug watch list.
Police are currently investigating the motive behind the killings as they continue their search for the suspects.
