LOS ANGELES, California – Sen. Manny Pacquiao arrived in Los Angeles California for the press conference of his comeback match against World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Jessie Vargas.
According to an article published by ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao said in an interview with Top Rank’s Crystina Poncher that he really wants to get the championship belt from Vargas.
“I’m hungry to get that belt. He’s the champion and I’m the challenge,” he said.
As for the reason why he decided to come out of his short-lived retirement to face Vargas, Pacquiao said it’s all because of his love for boxing.
He emphasized: “Boxing is my life.”
Pacquiao disclosed that he will train in the Philippines in preparation for his match against Vargas and he will continue his work as a senator while doing so.
As for Vargas, he knows that this fight is a great opportunity for him and he intends to surprise the world by beating Pacquiao.
Boxing News Online quoted him as saying: “It’s the biggest fight out there and a fight that could catapult me to the top, that’s what I’ve always wanted.
My fans are happy that I’m in this fight with Pacquiao, they know I always come to fight, I always come to give them a great performance. Everyone’s excited, I can’t wait. I won’t let my fans down and I won’t let the boxing world down because I’ll make it a great fight.
This is my chance, this is my time. I can’t wait to show why it is I hold the WBO world title.”
The two welterweight boxers will face each other on November 5 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
