- Several Instagram users pointed out that Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is not posting about the humanitarian works she’s done
- They said that her Instagram account is full of her modeling photos
- Pia responded to one basher saying: “Bukas nasa UN ako. Ikaw?”
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach was criticized by bashers on Instagram because she’s not posting about the humanitarian works she’s done, but instead, her account is full of her modeling photos.
“Nagmodel nang nagmodel, wala man lang post about humanitarian mission (She’s just modeling and modeling. She’s not even posting about humanitarian mission), ” read one comment on one of Pia’s recent photos.
The former teen actress-turned-beauty queen took notice of the comment and responded saying: “Bukas nasa UN ako. Ikaw?”
[Tomorrow I’ll be at the UN. How about you?}
The basher probably wasn’t expecting the response from Pia. She immediately deactivated her Instagram account.
However, Pia’s response didn’t stop others from criticizing her as well.
An Instagram user wrote: “Going to UN is not a humanitarian mission. Magdidisplay lang siya ng beauty nya doon. (She will just display her beauty there) Hay disappointing Pia. (This is disappointing Pia) Daming issue sa mundo pero pagmomodel inuna mo (There are a lot of issues in the world but you’re prioritizing modeling).”
Another Instagram user commented that it is a shame towards other countries because Pia is only posting her selfies instead of interesting photos.
If there are bashers, there are those who are defending the beauty queen.
Aside from telling the bashers to back off, other Instagram users also emphasized that it is a part of Pia’s duty as a Miss Universe to attend and take part in fashion events.
According to the Miss Universe official website, after the Miss Universe is crowned, she’s whisked away to New York City and prepped for a media tour where she will make multiple appearances at media outlets, networks, charitable organizations, sponsor events, etc. The titleholder will spend her reign representing her platforms, raising awareness and funds for charitable alliances, and traveling.
The Miss Universe’s charitable platform is the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Over the last decade, every Miss Universe titleholder has traveled around the world championing this cause and creating awareness for HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV testing, and access to medical care.
In fact, last June, Pia went to the United Nations headquarters in New York to attend a forum on HIV/AIDS.
Last February, she became the sixth Miss Universe to be given the title #HIV Prevention Ambassador by Aid for AIDS.
