A Filipino magician may become blind in one eye after a gang attacked him and his three friends in Dublin, Ireland on September 9.

As per an article published by GMA News Online, friends of Magic Mark Beltran who had accompanied him during the night of the attack said the Pinoy magician was hit in the face with a bottle; severely injuring his right eye.

Beltran was rushed to Mater Hospital in Dublin where doctors told him he might lose his sight in his right eye due to the severity of the wound.

“He has undergone surgery in Mater Hospital in Dublin. We still hold out hope for a miracle, but doctors have told Mark that the wound on the eye was severe, and that he will not likely recover sight in his eye,” Beltran’s friends said.

Concerned friends and relatives started a GoFundMe campaign to help finance his medical bills. The campaign hopes to raise at least $15,000 and as of posting, it has raised a little over $12,000.

His friends said the medical cost were already covered, but Beltran will be facing more challenges as he will be flying back to Manila and will be unable to work for a few months.

The GoFundMe campaign made this request: “Besides the outpouring of love and prayers, which is wonderful, if you can find it in your heart to make a contribution to his fund, we would be so grateful.

It added: “Together we can help our friend by taking one of his concerns off the table: his immediate expenses as he navigates this difficult time. Together we can make sure Magic Mark gets back to his magic making ways.”

Beltran obtained a Masters Class degree in magic at the McBride Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas. He has been performing magic in Vancouver, Canada for several years now.
